MI Parents Be Aware Of 100 Deadliest Days For Young Drivers

This is the time of year when gas goes up and we are all driving a lot more.  Many folks will be also hitting the road for family vacations.  It is very important that we take all the precautions to make sure we get to our destinations safely. Why Be Careful The Next 100 Days?

This is not meant to scare you, but to keep our young drivers safe, The 100 Deadliest Days for teen drivers are now upon us and will continue through Labor Day. This is the time when the number of teen driver fatalities goes up. Fox47news.com says AAA says that each year an average of 2,081 teen drivers are involved in terrible crashes during the 100 deadliest days for teens.

Here in Michigan, on average there are at least 22 teen drivers involved in deadly crashes during this time. Those crashes also impacted others on the roads; 247 people were killed in teen driver-related crashes during the past ten summers. In the summertime, they’re wanting to go to the beach, they’re wanting to go up north, there are all these different places,” said metro Detroit mom Stacie Batur.

 

Talk To Your Kids About Safe Driving

It is a really good idea to talk to our kids about how crucial it is to obey the laws. No drinking and driving, no cell phones, and wear a seat belt.  We should be pounding that into their brains. also to teach them all driving conditions, like nighttime driving, driving in the rain, and through construction zones.  Let's have happy and safe summer.
