A gas leak is causing traffic delays in Kalamazoo

Give yourself extra time this morning when traveling through Kalamazoo. It has just been reported by Wood TV 8 that there is a gas leak in Kalamazoo and may interrupt your morning drive.

The intersection of Howard Street and Oakland Drive is closed until further notice. The city has detour routes along Stadium Driveand Drake Road, Parkview Avenue, Whites Road and S. Westnedge Avenue/Park Street.

Consumers Energy  says that crews discovered a crack in a six-inch gas main. We can blame Mother Nature for this gas leak. According to a spokesperson for Consumers Energy the leak was caused buy frost.

Consumers said crews will working on the leak non-stop until it is fixed and there is good news believe it or not. No one is expected to lose gas service and no evacuations have been ordered.
