Pasty Fest, an annual festival celebrating one of Michigan’s most beloved foods, is returning to Calumet, Michigan.

Pasties have always held a special place in Michigan’s hearts, so much so that one Michigan city decided to make one of the strangest and yet most fun and interactive events celebrating the food we admire so much.

Pasty Fest returns August 14-16 to the historic Main Streets of Calumet, Michigan, featuring pasties, medieval knights, competitions, costumes, and more.

It's very clearly one of the most quirky summer food festivals in Michigan, if not the most, as their website explains the origins of inspiration:

Once a hearty meal that fueled Cornish miners through long days underground, this beloved food staple continues to bring locals and visitors together today. Enjoy a lively downtown celebration featuring a parade, live music, street festivities, children’s activities, and plenty of pasties and other local favorites. With a fun Medieval Renaissance theme, Pasty Fest offers a unique blend of whimsy, history, heritage, and hometown celebration in the heart of Calumet.

Many people are excited for the return, with many sharing their experiences in the comments, like the person who had their VERY FIRST pasty, completely by accident:

I had my first pasty last year, at the pasty festival in Calumet! What a happy accident to ride into town and see this happening.

Many people enjoy the fun of the event:

We attended last year's Fest and had a wonderful time. I love the parade with the marching rutabaga! Sample the award-winning pasties.
