Ever since COVID-19 made its way to the United States, the virus has made all sorts of impacts throughout the country. Tragically for some the virus proved to be deadly, whereas for others, they would experience mild to extreme symptoms. The virus has also seen it share of variants, which is expected to happen with a new virus.

Like most viruses, the more you get it or are protected from it the lesser the symptoms will be as new variants pop up. A new variant of COVID-19 named JN1 has been spotted in Illinois and could find its way into Michigan. But there are some bizarre symptoms that some people who have had the variant have experienced.

Although the CDC hasn’t officially classified these side effects, it’s worth noting That both having increased trouble sleeping and increased anxiety were found in one out of every 10 patients:

It comes after reports emerged in Britain that the new strain—which as of mid-December was estimated to comprise seven percent of cases in the country—may be responsible for causing worry and anxiety, as well as trouble sleeping. The claims were based on figures produced by the U.K. Office for National Statistics (ONS), which found in a survey of people recently infected with COVID in England and Scotland that between December 7-13, 10.5 percent reported worry or anxiety and 10.8 percent reported tiredness.

Although most of the new variants are much weaker than the original virus, it's always a good idea to continue to mask up if you're going to be tightly packed in a room with strangers.
