The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting an open house to share information about this year's investment to add an auxiliary lane on northbound US-131 from I-94 to Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo.

Obviously, anytime we talk about construction happening on a major highway, there are bound to be people with concerns and thoughts.

This is why the Michigan Department of Transportation is welcoming the community to voice their concerns or thoughts about the project to local businesses, interested residents, media, Michigan Department of Transportation staff, and contractors on Wednesday, February 25, from 4:30 to 630 at their service center at 5372 9th St. in Kalamazoo.

What Construction Is Happening on US-131 and I-94?

MDOT and contractor Milbocker & Sons, Inc. will be adding an auxiliary lane on northbound US-131 between I-94 and Stadium Drive to increase safety and improve traffic flow. MDOT engineers will be available to answer questions about this $13.4 million investment set to begin the week of March 2, with anticipated completion in mid-September.

Hopefully, the project goes smoothly and doesn't cause too many issues with traffic, and can be completed to add safety to the area.
