An Episcopal Priest Walks into Drag Queen Bingo one day in Detroit.... That's not the start of a joke. In fact, it's a real thing that happened recently, and someone captured the moment for everyone to see.

And while some might have been a little scared as to what happened, their fears were soon alleviated, as the absolute best outcome followed.

Clawson is a small community, just north of Royal Oak in Detroit, and the restaurant and bar in question, Whiskey Taco Foxtrot, had come under scrutiny in the past for support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Commentators, and the original poster of the TikTok below, even said protestors had been in the area.

So when this Priest sat down with a drag queen, calling out bingo numbers, tensions ran high... but only for a moment.

The drag queen, Aphrodite, began talking with the Priest, getting to know a little about him, all while he was wearing his full getup, with the clerical collar and all. Turns out, he happened to walk into the restaurant with his family to eat a meal, and was interested in what was going on.

Aphrodite asked him about his family, even making some inappropriate jokes right in front of him, but the Priest continued to smile through the whole thing.

He then opened up even more, saying he was the Priest of church that "welcomes everyone," and that he didn't "see anything wrong here," with "here" being the drag queen leading a game of bingo.

Who Was This Accepting Priest?

The Priest in question's name is "Father Bill," and he is the Priest at Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills. The church is not only inviting to the LGBTQIA+ community, but he also said they have a group called "Love Wins," that holds various events for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies on a regular basis.

It was an incredible learning experience for the crowd, and a wholesome one for Aphrodite, and Father Bill, who seemed to have great fun meeting one another. In fact, as Father Bill was leaving the table, Aphrodite handed him a bible, that... I guess... they keep on hand for just such an occasion.
