There was a recent report that there were dangerous levels of lead in cinnamon products that are sold in Michigan and that residents should check their cabinets for the select brands that have shown those dangerous levels.

Public Health Oakland has recently shared the release that was made by the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The cinnamon recall was already in effect, but they've expanded the brands in which there are dangerous lead levels found in the product. Here are the FDA’s recommendations for consumers, according to their release statement:

The FDA is advising consumers to stop using and dispose of these products. Consumers should not eat, sell, or serve ground cinnamon products listed in the table and should discard them. These products have a long shelf life. Consumers should check their homes and discard these products. If there’s suspicion that someone has been exposed to elevated levels of lead, talk to your healthcare provider. Most people have no obvious immediate symptoms of lead exposure.

Below you can find a list of cinnamon products, and their lot code or expiration date, if available, and a reminder to dispose of the products. At some point during production of the product, there was lead contamination, which led to the FDA alerts issued on March 6 and July 25.
As the Mayo Clinic points out, Exposure to even low levels of lead can cause damage over time, especially in children, with the greatest risk to brain development, where irreversible damage can occur. You can read more about the danger of lead poisoning here.
