Two time Olympic medalist plans to spend Memorial Day in St. Clair Shores this year.

Nancy Kerrigan has accepted the offer to the special guest at 66th annual St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade!

Having attended the parade every year of my life (and I am not joking about that), this will be a thrill!

Nancy told the Detroit Free Press...

"I’m so happy to visit St. Clair Shores and be part of its long-standing tradition of recognizing the sacrifice of our service men and women through the parade. I also welcome the chance to honor our veterans and the cherished memories we have of our fallen heroes."

Besides taking part in the iconic parade, Nancy will be spending time at the Civic Ice Arena ( the St. Clair Shores rink that trains the skaters of tomorrow). Nancy commented on the opportunity to skate with local children during her trip...

“Skating has been a such a source of joy in my life, and I’m looking forward to sharing that with children in St. Clair Shores when we take the ice together."

Other famous athletes that you can look forward to seeing at the parade is Detroit Tigers Mickey Lolich and Mickey Stanley who will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Tiger's World Series Victory of 1968.

The annual parade will take place on Sunday May 27th, on Harper Ave in St. Clair Shores. The parade steps off at 1 pm. You can expect a organized run before the event and 130 entries in the parade.

Lets hope her trip this time is far better then her visit to Cobo Center in 1994!

See you at the parade (I never miss it)!
