Buttered Saltine Crackers Are the Hot New Snack Trend
This was one of my favorite snacks as a kid, buttered saltine crackers. I am totally serious. I recently introduced my daughter to this simple but tasty treat and she loved it. What's not to love?
Here is the recipe for this trending treat, butter and saltine crackers. No matter your skill level in the kitchen, this is one snack that anyone can make.
The simple treat of spreading soft butter (not margarine) on a saltine cracker has apparently been around for awhile. A place called The Piedmont Driving Club has been serving up the buttery treats to its members since the early 1970s. They do have one strict rule for making the snack. Only use Nabisco saltines, they say that any other cracker will not retain its freshness and crispness.
Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman ,also grew up on this treat just like I did. So in total Ree fashion, she has upped the cracker game. For The Pioneer Woman's Seasoned Buttery Crackers you will need:
2 sticks of BUTTER
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
1 sleeve of saltine crackers
Melt the butter in a saucepan and add Italian seasoning and the seasoned salt.
Dunk the crackers in the butter mixture and then place them on a rack over a cookie sheet.
Bake at 275 for about 20 minutes, then enjoy.
Pretty simple and pretty straight forward.
Another fun and yummy snack from my childhood is Nabisco Graham Crackers with butter spread on them. Again this calls for real butter and not margarine. They are absolutely yummy and also very simple to make.
