Some interesting opponents and locales will be in store for the Western Michigan Broncos football team in the their quest to win the Mid-American Conference and, ultimately, to play in a high profile bowl game. All this with a new quarterback (Jon Wassink graduated) and six of the teams on the schedule played in bowl games last season.

The Bronco football schedule for 2020 was released Wednesday, and confirms the WMU-CMU rivalry game will be at Ford Field on October 17th. It also features a trip to South Bend to take on Notre Dame on the final weekend of summer.

Another opening at home against Colgate (4-8 last season) the rest of the September schedule will be tough and will define whether Western plays in a good bowl or not. After the Colgate game, Western faces three tough football programs. Cincinnati was 11-3 last season, then it's Notre Dame in South Bend, and finally, the Broncos host Syracuse from the ACC to wrap up September.

With the start of October, it's all conference games, beginning with Ball State, and the trip to Detroit is two weeks later.
