Bell's is spiffing up the logo and packaging for its Best Brown for this fall. The owl remains on the label, but now, the owl looks more like a sports team logo.

“It's a mix of the old and the new. It hearkens back to our original labels while paying homage to the heritage of the brand, a modernized nod to the history of Best Brown,” Larry Bell, president and founder of Bell’s Brewery said.

Currently available at Bell's General Store and on draught at the Eccentric Cafe, the redesigned labeling should be appearing in stores, as August moves into September.

Best Brown dates back to the early days of the brewery, as it was first released in 1988 Bell's says the owl first appeared in 1993 and has been on the label ever sense, represented in different styles throughout the years.

Best Brown Ale maybe doesn't get all the attention of its higher profile siblings, but, as one Mattawan resident said, "its a really good brown ale." Another fan says it's the fall equal to spring's Oberon.

Bell's also announced some other annual releases as summer segues into fall. Octoberfest is already in release, Special Double Creme Stout is "shipping". Expedition Stout will have a "very limited" edition celebrating Bell's 35th anniversary, in addition to it's regular release.

Also on the way in September and October are Third Coast Old Ale, Sideyard, and Cherry Stout.
