REPORT: Trump Claims Third Presidential Debate Will Happen in Grand Rapids; Harris Responds
Following the initial Presidential Debate between President Joe Biden, and former President Donald Trump, it was thought that any future debates might be canceled due to Biden's poor performance. But following his dropping out of the race, and Vice-President Kamala Harris taking up the Democratic Ticket, discussions around more Presidential Debates have been heating up.
In fact, three more have been proposed in September, with a debate Sept. 10th on ABC confirmed. But, it seems, at least according to Trump, there will be an earlier debate on Fox News, and a third later in the month that could take place in Grand Rapids.
Trump claimed on Truth Social the following debate schedule was set: The first debate between Harris and Trump will happen Sept. 4th in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - just 3 hours from where Trump was shot at in an apparent assassination attempt. That debate would happen on Fox News. The second debate, which is confirmed by both parties, and ABC, will be at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Sept. 10.
We knew another debate was in play, but until recently, we didn't know much about the details. Now, according to Trump, we have what we need to know.
According to the same Truth Social Post from Trump, the third debate would take place on NBC Sept. 25th, and be held in Grand Rapids. He wasn't clear on which venue, though, the debate would be held in.
The former president ended his truth post, saying, "I look forward to seeing Kamala at all three Debates!"
As it turns out, though, only the Sept. 10th debate has been confirmed by both parties. Since his post, Harris's team responded with the following statement:
"We're pleased Trump finally agreed to debate the Vice President on ABC after previously trying to back out. We are open to another debate, and we'll continue those conversations. But to be clear, any additional debate would be subject to Trump actually showing up on September 10. We're not playing his games."
The last Presidential Debate to happen in Michigan seems to be when George H.W. Bush debated then-Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton in their third debate in 1992. Clinton then went on to win the election. Previously, one was scheduled for the 2020 election at the University of Michigan between Biden and Trump, but it was canceled due to safety concerns during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Trump's declaration on Truth Social, that he's excited to See the Vice-President, follows the release of damning video evidence of Trump out golfing with his youngest son, Barron, discussing Biden potentially dropping out of the race, and Kamala stepping in to run for the Democrats. In that conversation, he called her a "f***ing b**ch."
Trump has also lost his lead in the polls over the Democratic ticket in recent weeks as Harris' popularity has soared. Michigan, which is considered a major battleground state, once saw Trump leading by several points. He now trails by at least one point in most polls in the state.
The lead change happened shortly after Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, who is embroiled in his own defense right now, regarding his military rank following his retirement from the Minnesota National Guard in 2005.
