Ohio’s Best Kept Secret Is An Adorable Village Hidden In The Woods
During my travels on the east side of the country, I visited just about every kind of town you can think of. I was able to visit the big city when going to Washington DC and Philadelphia.
On the other side of the spectrum I was able to visit some very old world village Type locations like Salem, Massachusetts. But one of the most unique places that I discovered on my travels happened on the first day of the actual vacation.
I made a pitstop the night before in Ohio on my way to Washington DC, and in the morning, I headed out to get some breakfast at Johnny’s diner in Hudson, Ohio.
The breakfast and scenery was amazing, perfectly capturing that 1950s diner atmosphere, but the real treasure was just outside of Hudson in a Village in the middle of the woods called Peninsula.
This little town you could tell was historic and thrived on supporting local business. It had everything from a nightclub, bicycle shop and a locally owned coffee shop surrounded by multiple galleries.
Just driving into the town was really cool because you’re basically surrounded by a tunnel of trees before entering into this village that feels like it hasn’t changed much since it was first established in 1818.
In all honesty it hasn’t because according to the sentence records, the population since 1880, although fluctuating in the past, has only gone up from 488 to 536. This tells you that this adorable village in the woods is a cool historic place to visit when traveling through Ohio.
