Local Mom Rescues Abandoned Puppies In The Rain
Recently, a Kalamazoo mother discovered a crate full of abandoned puppies in the rain that were left for destitute.
Last week in Kalamazoo, a mother was getting off of her job early Thursday morning when she discovered a crate sitting in the rain on Field Avenue near Lake Street, which is right next to the Kalamazoo County Animal Services and Enforcement building.

Nobody knows why the puppies were abandoned, but she was quick to get the dogs to safety. She told Fox 17 how shocking the discovery was, and how heartbreaking the situation could have been:
It’s freezing cold, raining, wet. It’s miserable out. No condition for a puppy. To me it’s just plain ignorance. There is a lot of people out there who do want dogs. Who do want a companion. Hopefully, this story coming out will encourage people to go try to find them. It’s so heartbreaking. It just makes me so unsure about how people think. Like I said, there are so many resources in this area. So many people that are willing to help. I’m sorry that it had to come to this.
As of now, there is no information regarding whether or not the puppies will be available for adoption, and where they will be available to be adopted from, but as we work with multiple animal shelters in the area, we should hear of any availability as it comes along.
This is not the first time animals have been left in their crate on the road in Kalamazoo, and with so many resources to help, it's shocking this still happens
