Flint Man Gets 30 Years For Fatal Crash After Wedding Argument
In Michigan, a man will spend at least 30 years in prison for killing his best friend on the night of his wedding.
The murder took place on August 30, 2024, in Flint, Michigan, when James Shirah, who had gotten married earlier in the day, got into a drunken argument with his friend Terry Taylor Junior.

Apparently, he had originally left the scene and then returned, which is when he struck his friend with his car, which sadly took his life. A report from ABC 7 Chicago details the horrific incident that claimed someone’s life on a day that should’ve been filled with nothing but positivity:
Shirah's attorney had argued that the crash was not intentional. Prosecutors, however, said Shirah had left the scene and had time to reflect before returning and striking Taylor. In April, Shirah pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and other offenses. He will be eligible for parole after 30 years.
It's even crazier to know that his wife will also be tried as an accessory to murder.
The only thing I can do for the rest of my life is express my apology and remorse. ... I will forever be sorry. Turbo was my best friend. I spent every waking moment with him. I look at him as a big brother. -James Shirah
There's no information about what role his wife played in the death of his friend, but it's possible she was with him when the incident occurred. Shirah failed to stop after the accident; however, he later turned himself in to the authorities.
