Hollywood Markets have been a stable business in Michigan for many years.

Unfortunately, another staple location has announced that it will be closing. Recently, the Welsh family, who owns the Hollywood Market in Troy, Michigan, took to their Facebook page to let their audience know that they would be shutting down their location, which they built back in 1966.

Nearly 60 years later, they’ve decided it’s time to step away, as they announced on their emotional goodbye post

It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of our Troy location. Since we built this building in 1966, we have been blessed to call this city our home. Unfortunately, with the retail climate and intense competition surrounding this store, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors at this location only. This decision will allow Hollywood Markets to keep our business strong at our other stores in Madison Heights, Royal Oak, and Bloomfield Hills, with an eye to a prosperous future.

The good news is, all the employees who were working at the Troy location won’t be out of a job, as they continued:

We are excited to offer our employees positions at our three other locations, and we invite the community to visit us there. We know that we have your trust and appreciate everything the Troy and Birmingham communities have done for us over the past six decades. We will see you down the road!

This isn’t the first Hollywood market to announce that it would be closing, as most recently, the downtown Rochester location shut down to make way for what is expected to be a new Meijer location.

For now, their Madison Heights, Royal Oak, and Bloomfield locations are still running and open for business.
