The 8th annual "Backyard Burgers & Brews" Festival will be this weekend in Battle Creek in downtown.

"We are excited to be hosting one of downtown's most exciting end of summer celebrations, bringing together the community and business."

Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kara Beer (aptly named) said this year's festival is free to the public - as it has been years prior - AND they'll be stepping it up a notch.

"This year's Backyard Burgers & Brew, we are promoting a fantastic social district and have expanded the area and DOUBLED the number of food trucks/tents from last year. Also, we will be including the State Street Commons Social District again, allowing for more downtown businesses to participate and more attendees."

Beer said last year, they had a record attendance, which facilitated the need to grow and expand for this year. In fact, they expect ANOTHER record-breaking year for attendance and participation.

Included in your FREE ticket will be live music from Sam Luna Trio and 50 Amp Fuse, also more than 40 food trucks and restaurants. And of course, there will be a burger competition with 8 people competing this year.

The festival starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. at Festival Market Square in downtown Battle Creek. For parking information, and any questions, visit battlecreek.com or the Chamber of Commerce's Facebook Page.
