We are starting to see more and more national restaurant chains go through kind of a difficult time, as more people are starting to support and focus on local businesses. The novelty of having a theme restaurant was very popular in the 90s, but over the years we’ve seen restaurants like Red Lobster, which was formerly owned by Darden Restaurants, enter bankruptcy, and then exit bankruptcy.

But one restaurant that is currently owned by Darden Restaurants is closing many locations, including one in Michigan, meaning there is only one location remaining.

Bahama Breeze, located off Big Beaver Road in Troy, closed abruptly on May 15, leaving the only location left in Michigan at 19600 Haggerty Rd.. in Livonia. A spokesperson for the restaurant chain commented on the closure of the 15 restaurants in total:

After thorough analysis and careful consideration, we made the decision to close 15 Bahama Breeze locations. Closing a restaurant is a difficult choice because it impacts our team members and guests. However, we believe this is the right decision because it will allow Bahama Breeze to focus on its highest performing restaurants and strengthen the brand’s overall performance

Although they were given a severance pay of the option to relocate, that’s kind of a difficult thing to do here in this state, considering there’s only one location left. How much time is left before there are no more locations, and Bahama Breeze becomes at the past in Michigan?

We'll have to wait and see if this lone location can do good enough business to stay alive.
