I'm still kind of bummed that the Detroit Lions didn't make it into this year's NFL playoffs.

I, like many, was really excited when we found out that the team would be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks series. Hard Knocks each season follows an NFL team through its training camp and covers the team's preparation for the upcoming football season

It was fun to watch the team from a whole different perspective and you could really see the team working hard to not be the "SAME OLD LIONS".

One of the most memorable moments from the show is when Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams gave this passionate speech.

If that doesn't fire you up, then I don't know what will.

The Detroit Lions Had A Rough Start

The Detroit Lions started the season with a disappointing 1-6 record and it looked like we were dealing with the same old Lions. But a change was on the way.

Coach Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions turned things around and finished the season with a 9-8 record and won eight of their last ten games.

My favorite Lions win was beating Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in Lambough to knock them out of the playoffs.

Aiden Hutchinson joined Jared Allen as the only DL in NFL history to record a sack and interception against Aaron Rodgers in the same season. His also the first player to have a season with 9.5 sacks, 3 INTs & 2 FRs since Hall of Fame DE Richard Dent in 1990. Hutchinson and Dent are the only DLs in NFL history to produce such a season.

Detroit rookies combined for 20.5 sacks this year, a new NFL record for combined sacks from a team's rookie lineup.

Kerby Joseph became the first NFL player to intercept Aaron Rodgers three times in a single season.

Amon Ra St. Brown finished the season as the number 2 receiver in the league, per PFF. And the number one run blocker at the position.

Jared Goff had 324 consecutive passes without an interception which ranks as the fifth longest streak in NFL history.

Jamaal Williams had 1,000+ rushing yards and 17 TDs to surpass Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders single season rushing TD record of 16 established in 1991.

As I told you at the start, I'm bummed the Detroit Lions are not in the playoffs this year but I'm excited to see what the future looks like with this group of amazing players.
