Allegiant Airlines has been providing domestic flights for residents all over the US for years. Being a smaller airline company, a lot of their flights have layovers as they are helping people get from smaller cities to other states. Since they are often working in the smaller airports and cities, there are only a select number of routes that they will fly and an even fewer number of non-stop routes.

As the pandemic has ended and the world is slowly going back to normal more Americans are traveling around the country. This means that more flights are starting to fill up and more seats are needed, this has gotten many airlines looking at the flight and travel trends. Allegiant is one of the few airline companies that is looking to take advantage of the rise in travel by adding 10 more routes that will serve 14 cities across the country. A couple of those routes are coming right here to Illinois and Indiana.

Catching Flights In Chicago

The Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) is one of the many airports that will be receiving some new routes during the 2024 year. Allegiant was already using RFD for service but now they will be adding some routes to the West Coast in the upcoming year. RFD has been an alternative to the busy O'Hare and Midway airports that are closer to Downtown Chicago and now, they are going to have an advantage with Allegiant Airlines flyers.

Allegiant will be the only airline service to use RFD to fly to Los Angeles as they have added 2 nonstop routes to LAX this year. Alongside Los Angeles and LAX, Allegiant offers travel services to 8 other cities and airports (maybe more) on either a seasonal or year-round basis. As RFD would love to take all of the business in Illinois that heading West, there is another city and airport in the Land of Lincoln that will be getting added Allegiant services as well.

Belleville, Illinois is home to the MidAmerica St. Louis Airport (BLV) airport which hasn't seen much traffic since the early 2000s because they added another runway to St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) causing them to abandon BLV. So Allegiant is the only airline that has continual passenger traffic at the BLV airport. BLV will have service to Nashville starting in June with 2 flights per week.

Interesting Travels In Indiana

Indiana is another state that will reap the benefits of the new Allegiant Airlines routes as two of their airports will also see an increase in flights. Both South Bend and Evansville will be on the list of cities and airports that will see a positive bump in airport passenger travel as Allegiant brings more business. It is not clear if Allegiant is already offering services as these airports or any other airports in Indiana but starting in June that all changes.

The two cities (South Bend and Evansville) will be sending Indiana residents and travelers from nearby states to two different states and cities. The South Bend International Airport (SBN) in Indiana will have seasonal services to Knoxville twice a week starting in June. Meanwhile, Evansville Regional Airport (EVV) in Indiana will have services beginning June 13 with two flights per week to St Pete-Clearwater, Florida.

Flying has always been a luxury that some people can afford and like to take advantage of. I like that Allegiant is going into the smaller cities and airports, providing more residents with an opportunity to fly without having to jump through a bunch of hoops or spend unnecessary cash. Not enough about planes, here are 18 things that you can surprisingly take on an airplane.
