This airport maybe small but it is mighty!

The Marine City Airport, located in Saint Clair County’s Cottrellville Township has just been put up on the market for sale. The price? A mere $2.2 million. While there’s no airplanes included, here is what you get...

  • 69-acre property
  • A flight school,
  • Heavy equipment for plowing snow
  • A two-story home,
  • An eight-stall horse barn
  • A main maintenance hanger
  • A maintenance operation with tools and inventory
  • Three metal hangers with room for 32 planes
  • Security system
  • Office furniture and equipment.

The reason that the property is on the market is because the last owner, Willis Manter, a pilot who was chief executive officer of Manter Technologies  bought the airport in 1970 has passed away.

Randy Carlier a certified public accountant who’s handling Manter’s estate, told Mlive...

There seems to be a real affection for that airport by those who use it and a handful of employees, including two Air Force veterans who work part-time as aircraft mechanics, There’s a lot of opportunity still there. The airport as a 24-7 operation with pilots regularly flying in and out of the facility and renting hanger space.

It was back in 1942 that the airport was certified as an airport that could be used for a relief airport during World War II. The airport was a place for pilots to train and a place to store their planes.

The area is breath taking and the chance to own a working private airport is a dream of many. I hope the perfect person finds this place and falls in love.
