If anyone ever tells you a hockey game with only one goal isn't exciting, just point them to the match played between visiting No. 3 ranked North Dakota and No. 17 Western Michigan Friday night at Lawson Ice Arena.

After three scoreless periods in regulation time, The Fighting Hawks' Gavin Hain tallied an unassited goal at 3:40 in overtime to win the game 1-0. There was no consolation that the Broncos out shot North Dakota 41-34.

If there was one glaring reason from the stat sheet for the loss, it could be the 15 shots on goal during 5 power plays and yet, the Broncos coming up empty on all of them.

Positives from the game; defenseman Kale Bennett blocking seven shots, and freshman Brandon Bussi with stellar goaltending throughout

The second game of the two game series is Saturday night at Lawson. It'll be Military Appreciation night and the Broncos will be wearing special military themed uniforms.
