After a disappointing outcome Friday night, the Western Michigan University hockey team came out Saturday night with added resolve against Miami University, and came away with a big 4-1 win.

Friday night, the Broncos blew a two goal lead and lost in overtime to miss out on two of three possible points int the standings. The team made sure that didn't happen again on Saturday night.

Combined with fourth place Denver's being swept by NCHC juggernaut North Dakota, the Broncos are now four points ahead of Denver, in third place, but trail perennial powerhouse Minnesota-Duluth by six points from second.

Saturday night, the Bronco veterans led the team, with seniors Cam Lee and Dawson DiPietro scoring goals along with junior Paul Washe and sophomore Cole Gallant. Future NHL'er Mattias Samuelsson chipped in two assists. And the freshman goalie from Long Island, Brandon Busse gave another solid performance in goal, stopping all but one of 20 shots.

The schedule gets even harder the next two weekends, with the aforementioned Minnesota-Duluth coming to Lawson this weekend. Friday night's game will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. Following that is trip to Grand Forks to take on North Dakota.
