Olympic Gold Medalist McKayla Maroney Claims She Was Sexually Abused by Michigan Doctor Larry Nassar
The #MeToo sexual assault and harrassment awareness campaign has been sweeping across social media in the wake of the allegations against Harvey Weinstein, and now Olympic gold medal gymnast McKayla Maroney has chimed in, claiming she was sexually abused by disgraced former MSU and Olympic doctor Larry Nassar.
Maroney took to Twitter early Wednesday morning to detail her experience with Nassar. Nassar is currently facing sexual assault charges in Michigan, and is accused of assaulting at least 140 girls and women over a number of years.
Maroney said that her abuse at the hands of Nassar began when she was just 13 years old. She claims that he told her that what he was doing was "medically necessary treatment."
