Three Animal Control Officers in Saginaw County, Michigan will do the unthinkable as they sleep in dog houses during bomb cyclone weather.

First of all, you may be asking yourself, "self..what's bomb cyclone weather?"  That's a great question.  A Bomb Cyclone is defined like this by CNN,

A bomb cyclone happens when a cyclone, which is a low-pressure rotating storm system, experiences a dramatic drop in atmospheric pressure over a short period of time. This process is known as bombogenesis, an equally cool weather word. Bomb cyclones can help draw colder air in from the North, which could, say, blast areas in the northern hemisphere with icy temperatures.

Second of all, why on earth would these Animal Control Officers do this?  According to WJRT they want to be voices for dogs that are left out in the cold,

...the officers hope their voices are heard loud and clear on Jan. 12.

From 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. the next day they plan to sleep outdoors at Apple Mountain in Thomas Township.

Two of the officers will be in custom-made dog houses being made by prisoners at the Saginaw Correctional Facility.

The third officer will be without shelter.

Just Friday Night I was contacted by a listener who found a dog locked in a pickup truck downtown Kalamazoo freezing for a long period of time.  When he called the KDPS the officer wouldn't even get out of his car.  There clearly needs to be a local ordinance passed so we can better protect the poor freezing animals that do not have a voice.
