Are Meijer Self-checkouts Mistakenly Double Charging Shoppers
Meijer could be inadvertently double-charging people for items that they scan at the self-checkout. There was an incident that happened recently when I was shopping at Meijer and using the self-checkout that had me a little concerned.
When scanning an item, it ended up bringing up twice on the screen, and I needed to call a Meijer employee over to get it to be taken off. The employee informed me that this happens all the time.

That had me a little concerned, considering there may have been times I shopped before and not noticed, leading me to overpay.
Well, as it turns out, it wasn’t just the Battle Creek location of Columbia that has this problem, as recently in a Facebook group, In & Around Saint Joseph, Michigan.
This problem has taken place at the Benton Harbor and Stevensville locations as well, according to one person who posted that they also had this problem:
Watch your receipts. They are double-charging for items at both locations (BH & Stevensville). This has happened the last 3 times I have purchased items from Meijer, and when I went back to the customer service stand to report the double charge, I was told by the customer service person, “This happens a lot,” and for sure I went again today, and certain items will ring up twice.
Unsure of how long this had been going on, the original poster sent a feedback alerting the corp offices of this scanning issue. As of yet, they haven’t heard back, but this is something you'll want to monitor yourself.
