LOOK: Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo Flooded; Growlers Offering Game Updates
UPDATE: Noon 7/16 - The Kalamazoo Growlers have issued a statement on the schedule games for Tuesday and Wednesday against the Kokomo Jackrabbits:
"Due to extreme flooding at Homer Stryker Field, Tuesday's doubleheader and Wednesday's game between the Kalamazoo Growlers and Kokomo Jackrabbits has been Postponed.

ET, and will be resumed in the top of the Fourth Inning, a makeup from the June 8 rain out. Game two will begin 30 minutes after the end of game Number one, but not earlier than 7:05 P.M. The game will be seven inning.
Wednesday's originally schedule game at Homer Stryker Field will be moved to Friday, Aug. 9, and will be played as a doubleheader at Kokomo. Both games will be seven innings and game one will start at 5:05 P.M. Kokomo will be the home team in game one, and Kalamazoo will be the home team in game two."
ORIGINAL STORY - It's the price you pay sometimes when your baseball field is LITERALLY in a flood plain, but usually it works out just fine.
But unless the Kalamazoo Growlers (and their opponents) want to play baseball in canoes for the next few days, there's no way a game is happening at Homer Stryker Field, as the Kalamazoo River has officially "stormed" the field.. literally.
Early Tuesday morning, Growlers staff members began getting notifications of rising waters on the Kalamazoo River that could endanger the field. By the time sunlight came, nearly the entire field had been "stormed" with river water, and by 10 am, the entire field was covered in up to knee-high waters.
The last time the river flooded Homer Stryker Field was back in 2022, but the last time it happened during a season was in 2019.
How Does This Impact the Growlers?
The Growlers were expected to play a double-header on Tuesday against the Kokomo Jackrabbits, with another home game on Wednesday night. Now, Growlers staff say those games will for sure not happen.
Unfortunately, Tickets for these games are non-refundable, however staff said tickets intended for Tuesday and Wednesday's games (July 16-17) can be redeemed for another home game later in the season.
Kalamazoo was working on a new schedule for those games, whether they would be rescheduled, or moved. League officials and team owners will announce any decisions when they come to an agreement. To get those updates, you can visit all of their social media platforms, their website, or email at tickets@growlersbaseball.com.
For now, the team waits as Mother Nature does its thing, following TWO heavy rain storms in a matter of days that prompted multiple severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Flood Warnings across southwest Michigan.
