One of the many unfortunate realities of life is that we will have to deal with scams for our entire lives. There are some people out there that believe it is easier to scam and take from other people than to create a life for themselves. There are several different types of scams that are used on a daily to try and take advantage of people all over the world.

Many of those spams are in the form of email, call, door-to-door, or even card swiping. The whole purpose of scamming is for the scammers to gain access to your personal information for money or other means. Sometimes they will take access to your things just to hold them ransom for a large amount of money. Although there are many different scams that are used, there are some that are more common than others.
Be on The Lookout For The Most Common Phishing Scam In Michigan
Michigan residents are just as susceptible to being scammed as anyone else in the world. There is one scam tactic that is used far more in Michigan than any other scam process, do you have any guesses? Scammers target Michigan residents with a "unusual activity detected on the account" scam more than any others.
This is a scam where the individual will receive a call, text, or phone call from a scammer claiming that there has been fraudulent activity in one of their accounts. There will normally be a link incorporated in the text or email that they ask you to click. If it's a phone call they will ask for sensitive information like your social security number, email, phone number, etc.
If you receive one of these calls, texts, or emails be sure to avoid clicking on the link and don't give any of your personal information away over the phone. You should report the call, email, or text to your service and authorities. This is the 3rd most common phishing scam in the United States and Michigan is one of 9 states where this is the most common.
