Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer Arrested For Fraud
Former local police officer Catrice Lockett was arrested and taken to the Douglass County Jail in Georgia on fraud charges and has since been released on a $25,000 bond. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has since placed officer Lockett on Administrative leave.
It's said that the fraud charges are related to a pickup truck that she and her fiancé, who was mentioned in another article, tried to report as stolen. According to their Douglas County Jail records, they are being charged with false reports of a crime, fraudulent insurance claim and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Lockett has served within the Kalamazoo Community since 2016 where she has been a school resource officer, patrol officer, and even worked in the community policing unit. Before her time in Kalamazoo, she also served for the Grand Valley State University and the Muskegon Heights Police Departments.
It's said that the couple wasn't even located within the state of Georgia on the day in question when the supposed pickup truck was stolen. The truck is said to be a 2011 Toyota Tundra that was stolen while they were at a state park but were trying to get the report to file an insurance claim.
Since Douglas County courts only allow people to review criminal cases in person this will be an ongoing investigation that will take place in Douglas County. Updates will come as needed but they tried to pull a fast one. Fraud is serious and could land you behind bars as this law enforcement officer found out the hard way.
