Mlive.com reported that ...

"The Michigan Senate on Thursday gave final approval to a bill banning local governments from establishing taxes on soda, food or gum.  House Bill 4999 passed 30-5. "

"Big Brother", wanted to impose local taxes on soda, food and chewing gum (things they feel are not good for us) but the Michigan Senate voted against that idea.

We are all adults and make decisions on what to eat on our own, and yes, sometimes we make bad decisions, but they are our decisions. I am glad that if I want to partake in a Mt. Dew with Dana Marshall, I won't have to pay more money for my sugary, tasty treat!
