Back in the early 90's when I started working in Kalamazoo, I heard a rumor that Al Capone had a hide out in town.

On the corner of Jennings Drive (the road that WKFR is on) there used to be an old white farm house. I was told that Al Capone's family owned the house and it was where he would hide out if things were getting too intense with police or enemies.

The tale seems a tad far fetched, but it does make sense if you consider Kalamazoo is the half point between Chicago and Detroit...right? An old farm house on the outside of town....?!? I bought the story hook, line and sinker with no real proof.

Since I have moved back the house has been torn down and just an empty lot remains (see photo above). I have done some research and the rumor is not true, but I have to say it's a cool thing to think about. Mafia right next door to WKFR.
