Monday was National Unclaimed Property Day, and the state of Michigan wants you to, in their own words, "take time out of (your) busy schedules to check if they have lost or abandoned property".

It's like a bad horror movie. Bottles and cans, stacked up, slowly filling a bin, a box, a room, before taking over....But with more folks staying at home, more drinking at home, then this is what happens with all the used bottles and cans.

Potentially the state would take a positive sewer sample report from a town and issue blanket restrictions on everyone there.

It appears some jobs numbers released by the state for July may indicated that Michigan's economy may be slowly returning to whatever "normal" is.

The end of today is the deadline for filing for a home heating credit with the state of Michigan. While most don't bother with it, the state says the average credit this year, of those applications processed, is $195.

It's a cheap joke, that if the government shuts down, we all win. Because the people shutting it down, the legislators and lawmakers, they're fine. It's the folks that actually work for a living who are furloughed, and that can be a problem.
