For the first time in 43 years Janet Jackson paid a visit to her childhood home in Gary, Indiana just days before her Grand Rapids concert.According to NBCChicago,

The 51-year-old said she was 8-years-old the last time she was in Gary. The family moved out of the industrial city about 30 miles southwest of Chicago after the Jackson 5 recorded their first album in 1969, when Janet Jackson was a toddler.

Janet and her brother Randy went to their childhood family home at 2300 Jackson Street followed by a visit to Roosevelt High School.  Miss Jackson told nwitimes.com,

"The last time I was here I was eight years old," said the Grammy-winning singer. She said when her brothers began to get famous and the family moved to Los Angeles she was about two or three years old.  The soft spoken singer said she was excited to be back but it was also very emotional.  "When I saw the house ... I just started crying," she said, with tears in her eyes. "Me and my family are so blessed. I'm so thankful," Janet said.

Janet Jackson makes a stop in Grand Rapids at Van Andel Arena as part of her 'State of The World Tour' Wednesday, November 1st.  The last time Janet came to Grand Rapids was in 2015.  As you can tell by the video (click here) I was a little excited to see her.
