The holiday, which may as well be a national holiday as far as we are concerned in Kalamazoo, has just been announced, which means we’ve got to be getting closer to spring.

Bells' Oberon Day 2026 officially has a date, as on Monday, March 23. Oberon Day will officially be underway.

Oberon was originally created by Larry Bell in 1992 because he is a serious baseball fan, and he wanted a citrusy smooth wheat ale that he could enjoy while watching baseball.

What transpired was a beer he originally named Solsun, but eventually changed to Oberon. Now, every year, people from all over West Michigan come to Bell’s Eccentric Café to celebrate the return of spring, even though last year it was a blizzard.

On Monday, March 23, the general store will be open at 10 AM for early purchases, while the doors to the eccentric café will officially open at 11 AM. Bells hasn’t announced any of the special brews they plan on having that day, so we will keep you updated as soon as we learn more info about what you can expect in this year’s celebration.

People are already getting excited and flooding them with requests:

Here to say I realllly hope you bring back regular Eclipse next year! The raspberry is not that great or similar at all to regular Eclipse. Seems a lot of other people agree. Can’t wait for Oberon on the boat this summer though.

Some people take the day very seriously and need a little extra time off:

Taking 2 vacation days, just like every year. Oberon Day is the Best Time!!! Coming soon for some HopSlam.
