ALERT: Michigan Residents Targets Of New Door-To-Door Scam
I've never understood why some people have made a living out of scamming other people but honestly, I hope to never be in a position to where I would understand their motives. Scams have been around since humans found out that some people are very gullible, and they could con people out of their things. Whether simple or complex, these scams have been multiplying over the years, making it hard to keep up with them.
Some scams are sent through text, email, or social media while there are others that will call and impersonate a bank teller or other profession seeking personal information. While there are several kinds of scams, the scariest ones are those that occur in person as there are so many possibilities for the outcome. That's why staying up to date on the scam activity that may be in your area is important. Speaking of scams, Michigan residents need to be aware of the new door-to-door scam that's been going around.

First off, I don't think any of you are that crazy and I hope that you would never be so crazy as to let a stranger into your house. Nonetheless, if you've done this before now may be the time to stop being so friendly. Door-to-door scams are nothing new to Michigan, but the methods are forever changing and now there is a new method on the table. Door-to-door scams can be the scariest as they are already at or inside of your home, taking away some of your privacy and possibly safety as well.
One of the most convincing scammers are those that are offering you a service because you believe they are either doing it out of the kindness of their heart or are trying to get their small business some exposure. While this may be true sometimes you must be cautious as this could lead to other issues in the future. Such as, someone offering you a service and then passing your information along to someone else.
Once they have your information there is a number of things that could go wrong like them trying to upsell you on a service, identity theft, or other damaging things to your namesake and livelihood. So, while being nice is what we should do, we should always be cautious as well to protect yourself from a number of scams that could be targeted at you.
Senior citizens are the group that are targeted most during door-to-door and other scams as people feel they are more gullible or at least easier to convince them than those that are younger. Just be diligent on who you allow in your home and what information you give them access to, as those are the only ways to truly keep yourself safe.
