Detroit is gearing up for their annual Movement Festival (formally known as Techfest) which takes place over Memorial Day Weekend and is one of the biggest Electronic Dance Music and Techno festivals in the U.S. With all the construction and setup that I've seen over the past few days, it looks like it's gonna be one of the biggest shows ever bringing in acts like Diplo, Too $hort, and the Wu-Tang-Clan.

But it's this creepy a** statue that has everyone talking the past few days. Some 17 -foot-tall bronze statue named "Waiting" went up in front of One Campus Martius last Friday which was paid for by Dan Gilbert and his wife Jennifer, after it was finished by creator KAWS, according to Metro Times.

Apparently the mouse figure is a recurring KAWS character called “Companion,” that represents the process of growing up. The price of the statue is not known, but KAWS has produced work that's been valued at more than $1 million.

The statue reminds me of a twisted Mickey Mouse mixed with the Wally World logo from National Lampoon's Vacation. Creepy, but it fits right in with Detroit.
