The maker reads...

"This memorial tree and monument are in loving memory of Sgt. Collin Rose who gave his life in the line of duty, protecting others. End of watch November 23, 2016"

Mlive.com reported...

"The tree, a Kousa Dogwood, was donated by Gull Lake Landscape Co. and according to owner Bruce Snyder it is one of a kind. "Collin was vibrant, full of life, full of joy, so we chose a tree that would flower," Snyder said."

After the tree was planted, family members, friends, and the community had the opportunity to place blue ribbons on the tree.

Hero Officer Rose was on patrol near Wayne State University when he was shot in the head. Officer Rose, 29,  passed away the following day due to his injuries surrounded by family.

We here at Townsquare media continue to send out love, thoughts and prayers to the Rose family.
