This pandemic has been a struggle for a lot of people in Kalamazoo. The people who are still working, the people out of a job, and also the homeless community as well. It's something that hasn't really been discussed but I was curious how this is going to affect those who don't have anywhere to go or a way to protect themselves from this illness. The River, a church located at 517 Walbridge Street, will now be open Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m until 4 p.m., according to MLive.

Kalamazoo Mayor Dave Anderson was aware that homeless were still hanging out in parks in the city even though they are closed. He wanted that to be handled delicately of course. Luckily he was able to get help from Integrated Services of Kalamazoo ( Formerly Kalamazoo Community Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services). Social Distancing is being practiced at the shelter, and people who come in will have access to free masks, meals, refreshments and entertainment.
