Detroit rapper, Royce da 5'9" knocked Rihanna out of the top spot of the US R&B/Hip-Hop Album Chart.

I go way back with Royce.  Before taking the job here at 103.3 KFR, I was VP of an Indie record label.  That is where I worked with a very talented writer and rapper, Royce da 5'9".

According to Forbes.com,

20 years into his career, the Detroit rapper finally checked in at the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with his LP Layers, effectively de-throning Rihanna’sANTI which previously held the spot.

You may remember Royce from his collaboration with Eminem called "Bad Meets Evil."  Bad Meets Evil's #1 hit "Lighters" featuring Bruno Marrs was my son's favorite song back in 2011.  That's the set up for the video message below that Royce recording for Zach.

Congrats Royce da 5'9"...you deserve the #1 spot!
