A voluntary recall has been issued by the Kellogg Company for several thousand boxes of waffles, due to a potential Listeria contamination.

In a press release, the Battle Creek-based company says that around 10,000 boxes of Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles are affected by the recall.  The affected products are the 10 count box, with a best before date of November 2017.

Listeria is a food-borne bacterium that can cause fever, headache, nausea and other symptoms, and can be fatal in young children, the elderly, and those with weak immune systems.

The company says that routine testing determined the potential concern, and even though they haven’t received reports of anyone getting sick yet they are taking action to ensure safety.

If you have a box of the waffles, throw them away and contact Kellogg’s for a full refund.
