Just how historic is the Kalamazoo River flood of February 2018? It beat a high water mark that stood for 71 years.

Historically the highest level for the Kalamazoo river was 10.94 feet, set in 1947. February 22, 2018 the river hit 11.25 feet above flood stage and was still forecast to crest higher at 11.4 feet.

The river is officially gauged by the National Weather Service at Merrill Park in Comstock along River Street just south of King Highway/M-96.
