Girls on the Run 5k [Street Closings]

Nearly 2,000 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls are running a 5k tomorrow.  Here is a list of street closings.

The Girls on the Run 5K presented by Eaton Corporation will be held tomorrow, May 21, 2015, at 6:30 pm at WMU’s Waldo Stadium! Nearly 2,000 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls will be completing a 5k – or 3.1 miles, and celebrate their completion of the Girls on the Run program. Event organizers expect over 1,000 community runners and walkers at this event.

The girls will leave Waldo Stadium and head downtown on Lovell Street on their journey through the downtown streets then back on West Lovell to the finish line inside of Waldo Stadium.

In addition to South Park St. and South Westnedge Ave., the following closures will be in effect:

• Full road closure of Eddies Lane, and Oakland Dr. from Eddies Lane to W Lovell St
• Full road closure on W Lovell St between Oakland Dr. and S Rose St (Until runners are past Rose)
• Two traffic lanes on W Lovell St between S Rose St. and S Burdick St. (N. Curb lane to remain open for S Michigan Mall traffic)
• West side of S Burdick St from W Lovell St to Burr Oak St
• North side of Burr Oak St from S Burdick St to S Rose St
• East side of S Rose St from Burr Oak St to W Vine St
• South side of W Vine St. from S Rose St to Oak St.
• West side of Oak St from W. Vine St to Wheaton Ave
• North side of Wheaton Ave. from Oak St to Davis St.
• West side of Davis St from Wheaton Ave to W Lovell St.
• South side of W Lovell St to Oakland Dr.
