What you need to know about this weekend's semi-annual fire hydrant flushing.

Public Services Department personnel plan to flush hydrants around Kalamazoo to remove "accumulated sediments".  The safety of the city's water supply will not be affected. However, residents are being advised to run COLD water in their bathtub until it runs clear again.  Also, the use of washing machines the day of the flushing is being discouraged as clothing could become discolored.

The Spring Hydrant Flushing Program will begin on Sunday, April 16, 2017. Most flushing will take place at night between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. with some additional day flushing between 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
