Alternative and sustainable energy sources are becoming increasingly more important in our society. One emerging, and highly promising, option is biofuels derived from fast growing, highly productive algae. However, its commercialization faces a main hurdle in meeting its high demand for fertilizers. Coupling algal biofuel production with nutrient-rich wastewater from breweries just might be the answer. Can we brew our beer and generate biofuels too?
