Additional Information

We are contacting you today to request that you consider joining the Michigan Parkinson Foundation (MPF) and Kalamazoo Area Support Group as a sponsor for the 2nd annual “I Gave My Sole for Parkinson’s Walk-a-thon” in the Kalamazoo area. We have been fortunate to secure Portage Celery Flats on Sunday, August 9th 2015 to host the event. We have consistently had success with this event in the metro Detroit area and, because of the demand of support groups in the area, we are extending it to various areas across the state.

In 2013 we held a total of four “I Gave My Sole for Parkinson’s Walkathons/5K Runs” at various locations: South Lake School in St. Clair Shores, Northville High School in Northville, Okemos High School in Okemos and our 1st annual event in Alpena. In 2014 Kalamazoo hosted its 1st annual event with over 130 participants! These events were very successful, drawing participants from all over Michigan and we anticipate that this year’s events will grow.

Enclosed you will find a sponsorship form describing the available levels of support. Please take a moment to review and select a level appropriate for your organization.

If you would like to donate services/gift cards/tickets, these would be greatly appreciated as well. This is a great opportunity to support a local program as well as promote your organization.

The Michigan Parkinson Foundation is a unique, independent organization which, for these past 30 years, has been the primary organization in Michigan to provide programs including the following:
- financial assistance for medication and respite day care
- an information and referral service
- educational programs for people affected by PD and health professionals
- more than 55 affiliated support groups throughout Michigan
- the Bauer Research Award, which helps to fund studies conducted within the state of Michigan by researchers and students

Currently, there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, and the challenges faced by those affected by this complicated, progressive neurologic disease continue to grow. The Michigan Parkinson Foundation is working aggressively to extend programs throughout Michigan, which help people to cope and manage effectively; to enable every person with Parkinson’s or related disorders to obtain competent, compassionate care and services. Please visit our Website for additional information.

We thank you in advance for considering the opportunities on the attached sponsorship form, and we will follow up with you shortly. In the meantime, if we can be of assistance, we invite you to contact our office at (248) 433-1011.

Most sincerely,

Volunteer, Walk-a-thon Committee
