Additional Information

The popular local fundraiser gathers together thousands of local walkers for two days to help raise funds to put money back in the classroom.

This year’s event will be hosted by the parent associations from the Early Elementary, Later Elementary and Middle Schools. On Thursday, Sept. 25, Mattawan elementary students
will walk on Mattawan’s track. The next day, Friday, Sept. 26, the middle school students will walk a course through Mattawan. Organizers said that 100 percent of donations go directly toward enhancing the students' school experience.

In the past, money from this event has allowed Mattawan Consolidated School's elementary classrooms to fund reading programs and field trips to Binder Park Zoo, Kalamazoo Nature Center, Kalamazoo Civic Auditorium and more; Walk-A-Thon pledges also provide additional gym equipment, technology materials, books and more. For the middle school, money is anticipated to support supplies, transportation costs for field trips and camps; supplement funding for programs such as Science Alive, Traveling Art, Success Program, Leadership Camp and Science Olympiad and more.
