KALAMAZOO – Moms are the guests of honor at a free event from 10 a.m.- noon on May 3 hosted by Girl  Scouts Heart of Michigan’s Kalamazoo Regional Center shop.

“Because we want this to be an early Mother’s Day present  for the moms out there, we want their girls to come too,” said Sara Pichla, retail sales specialist for Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan’s Kalamazoo Regional Center.

The regional center, at 601 W. Maple Street, is the site for the celebration of mom.  Pichla said the girls, who don’t have to be Girl Scouts, will come in with their moms and make them a flower jar while coloring them a card.  The girls and their moms will also be able to paint their nails together.

Pichla said tables for the various activities will be set up in the lobby.  There also will be plenty of time to shop the store which features a wide selection of merchandise.

This event will give non-Girl Scouts an exclusive opportunity to become a Girl Scout so they will be immediately eligible to participate in programs, attend Girl Scout resident and/or day camp this summer, earn badges, sell cookies and much, much more.

All brand new Girl Scouts who pay the $50 registration fee for this year and next year at this event will receive a free Girl Scout t-shirt to take home with them.  They can also order the new 2014 Girl Scout t-shirt at no charge and register to attend a free event at one of the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan camps.

“This event will give moms and their girls an opportunity to spend some time together,” Pichla said.  “We know that schedules are busy and life is hectic.  This is a perfect way to reconnect in a welcoming and relaxed setting.”
