Thanks to the organizer of the 9th annual Gumbo Cook Off for inviting me to help shuck oysters. The first few were a little tricky, but once you get the hang of it, they mostly came easy...And the celebrity judges came to me for advice.

The Gumbo tasting began at 3p, and we tried about a dozen of them, (never made it to the District Square tent, but the tent between Monaco Bay and Wild Bull had a very good selection of Gumbos.)
