$1,000 Secret Santa Code Winner Plans Money For Mother-In-Law’s Medical Bills

"I thought the chances were slim," said Brian Peaster of Plainwell.

And he was right.

Peaster was among the nearly 1,000 locals who entered our Secret Santa Code game for a shot at $1,000 cash last month.

But to his surprise, Peaster won.

Peaster was at work at American Metal Fabricators in Dutton when he got the e-mail.

"I about fell out of my car!" he said.

Peaster, who moved to Plainwell from Arkansas three months ago, said he and his wife came to the area to take care of his mother-in-law, who has leukemia.

"This money will probably go toward bills to help her," Peaster said of his mother-in-law. "It means a lot. I'm not used to winning, so it's really unexpected, and I'm really grateful for it."
