One thing you have to hand it to minor league teams is they promote really well, and they rarely miss an opportunity. That happened Monday morning as news was barely getting out that Kalamazoo's Derek Jeter was leaving the Miami Marlins organization.
The only question was whether it was going to be unanimous. And after teammate Mariano Rivera was voted into Baseball's Hall of Fame unanimously last year, it seemed possible it could have two years in a row, but one writer did not vote for Jeter.
It's kind of hard not to let your mind get ahead of itself. But circle July 26th, 2020. It's likely going to be a very special day for Derek Jeter, and with that, a lot of pride for the residents of Kalamazoo.
